At this moment, I have 7 chickens. I started with 2 and actually only because I won one of the radio for my birthday! lol A Barred Rock I got as a two day old chick who was so much fun and I loved dearly even with all her quirks - she just passed a week ago and a Rhode Island Red I've had since he was a few days old, also - 5mths old.
This past weekend I went to a chicken auction (had no idea there was even such a thing) looking for another pullet roughly the same age as my rooster. After Oreo died, he seemed very depressed and crowed non-stop unless I was outside with him. I had read that a lone rooster would do this, and that the owner would then become his flock. As much as I love him, I could not stay outside for him to watch over me. lol Anyway, I picked up a 5mth old Splash Orphington, and a Silky that I'm not sure of her age. I also picked up 4 unknown babies that have feathers on their feet. They are super tiny and so cute.
I found BYC through searching questions about my Oreo and her issues of crooked beak, and possible seizures. Found this site to be very helpful and decided to join in on the conversations.
Thank you for having me and I can't wait to hear from y'all!
