Hi all, I have 3 hens, which I have had about 4 months. I have unfortunately got the dreaded red mite, I have therefore moved the girls into the greenhouse at night whilst I tackle the red mites. They still use their coup during the day to lay their eggs. Two of the girls had adapted rather quickly and go straight into the greenhouse, the other however hides down the alley behind the kids bikes..Is she ok?

Will I ever get rid of the mites or should I invest in a plastic coup?

I imagine your young pullet is just confused with the change. IMO, with persistence and careful cleaning you can rid the birds and their coop of mites. I know alot of folks use sevin dust. I prefer a product called poultry protector. It's a spray which makes treating the birds and the corners and crevices of their coop easier for me.

Good luck.
