    Hello all,

I recently started with some coturnix a few months ago. I originally wanted to get chickens in order to teach my 2 yo daughter where food comes from. We already grow some veggies and fruits in our yard so I thought some eggs would aid in that. After some research I decided that quail would probably be less of a hassle considering we live mid-city.

Anyways, started with 3 female and 1 male regular coturnix but recently expanded with an additional jumbo, 2 Texas A&M, and 2 Goldens (Dilute Italians?). Unsure of the sex on the A&M but the original male has been picking on them, which I think is just because of their color. Hope to vent sex after they get on my lighting schedule.

I am testing a DIY incubator I built for $40. Looking forward to hatching some young ones for my daughter. Probably loan it to her preschool so some of these urban kids can get the experience too.

Anyways, nice to find this site.

I've never raised quail but they do look like interesting, cute little birds. Good luck with your incubation!
