Newbie Questions. What breed and how/when to tell the sex

Hey There,

I am a brand new Chicken Mommy! We just got our chicks from a friend who couldn't take in all 12 chick she got, so we have 6 and she has 6. They are a lot older than I was expecting and we are getting their coop ready. I'm just curious if anyone know what breed of chickens they may be. And how you can tell the sex of the chicks. Any information is appreciated. Thank you all.

Golden comets maybe. I think they are also called red star, they are a sexlinked hybrid. Kind of a guess here, better pics would help tho. Is that chick in the back all white or does it also have red?

Do all 6 of your friend's birds look like this too? Where did they come from? Feed store, ect?

If my suspicions are correct all 12 should be female, egg laying birds. But who knows!

How old are they? They look like Golden Sex Links. If that is so, any solid white ones would be cockerels. All with brown on would be pullets

I think the bck two are the only ones that look rooish, but is too soon to know for sure.
