    Hi all,
After a lot of hard work on a chicken coop we are now ready to purchase some chicks this weekend at the Chattahoochee Valley Poultry Association show in Newnan GA! I am looking at maybe getting Plymouth Rock, or Orpingtons. We want chickens primarily for eggs but I want them to be pretty friendly and easy to handle since I have a 4 year old daughter who would love to be able to pet them, love them, etc. Any recommendations out there on breed? This will be a first time experience for us so any information is welcomed!
    Thanks

hi and[IMG]. i would recommend red sex links, for egg laying, tough not the best winter layers. my neighbor 3 year old holds and pets my all the time. also any of the wyandottes. im going to be getting the blue laced red wyandottes this spring. frendly and good winter layers.

Orpingtons are the best; you can't go wrong with them. [IMG]

Hello from California! [IMG] Glad to have you aboard![IMG] I recommend the Black Australorp and Red Star (Red Sex Links). They are cute, fuzzy, and lay really good eggs! Good luck!
