Hi all! I am new to raising chickens & just got 12 Americana chicks. They are all growing like crazy and seem to be healthy except 1 has a watery crusty eye. It looks like some down got in her eye & irritated it. We tried a qtip to wipe the crusty off & push the down away from the eye. It looked better that day but then got crusty again. She (or he) is eating, drinking & is as sociable like the others babies. Any suggestions for this newbie chicken farmer?

I would clean the eye with saline. You can soak off any crust with a warm wet compress. Then get some Terramycin eye ointment from the feed store (you may need to ask for it, since it is locked up,) and apply it twice a day--just a small dot in the eye.
