We are brand new chicken owners. My middle daughter and husband have spent the last couple months building a coop and run. Yesterday we brought home two Rhode Island Reds and Two Barred Rocks. They seem to be acclimating well. We are so excited to be a part of this community! I've been reading up on here for weeks and the information is phenomenal!

:welcome :welcome Welcome, Welcome, Welcome!!! Those are great breeds to start with, if you'd asked I would have said those. Sounds like you're all set with a coop and everything but if you need any help with anything theres always lots of people willing to help here on BYC, home of the chicken lunatics!

P.S. Heres my barred rocks love them to bits! They're even my profile picture right now!
