Hi everyone! My hubbie and I decided to go ahead and take the plunge in raising our own chickens for eggs and meat. We do alot of hunting and canning venison and fresh veggies etc from the family garden we work that is in another county, and chickens just seemed like the next step! We are surrounded by neighbors with farms and all kinds of livestock and when one of our neighbors brought us some fresh brown eggs, we fell in love! The taste difference was out of this world! We spent last weekend building the coop and still need to finish the run. We have ordered our chicks which should arrive by mail the 2nd week of Feb. and have set up the brooder in our toolshed. We have read all of Storey's Guides I think (lol) and done our homework so we will be ready- can't wait- very exciting!!!! Glad to have found you guys and the wealth of info. and experience on this site
