Should I clean the chick or just leave the dried blood there? I don't want the other birds to start pecking at her. If so, what would I use to clean her with? 1) What type of bird , age and weight. Newly hatched Buff Orp 2) What is the behavior, exactly. Found her under mama - stomach/bottom area bloody. Looks like it had been pecked. 3) How long has the bird been exhibiting symptoms? Blood is dried now - not sure when she hatched - I'd say anywhere from 2-8 hours 4) Is there any bleeding, injury, broken bones or other sign of trauma. No more bleeding - just dried blood 5) What happened, if anything that you know of, that may have caused the situation. 6) What has the bird been eating and drinking, if at all. Maybe the mom pecked her??? 7) How does the poop look? Normal? Bloody? Runny? etc. Haven't seen any yet. 8) What has been the treatment you have administered so far? She has been moved to my ofc infirmary - heat lamp. Not strong enough on her own to withstand tramplings of 2 other newly hatched chicks - different hen. 9 ) What is your intent as far as treatment? For example, do you want to treat completely yourself, or do you need help in stabilizing the bird til you can get to a vet? I would like to treat myself - my goal is to get her strong enough to put with other chicks. 10) If you have a picture of the wound or condition, please post it. It may help. 11) Describe the housing/bedding in use is now in a box - pine shreds covered with paper toweling - heat lamp.
