Newly hatched chick with outward navel

    When this chick hatched it was pulling the shell around with two thin stringy looking things. I left it alone and it finally freed itself. What I am concerned about it that where the strings were connected to the chick it seems to have pulled the navel out. Does that make any since. You can see it a little in the photo posted. I'm worried about the little guy. [​IMG]

    I've had chicks pulling their shells around with the "strings" and had things that didn't look right like yours does. It's never ended up being a problem and I don't think I even notice it after they fluff up. I'm curious to see what others say about this and I hope you're sweet chick is ok!
