We have some "lovely" new neighbors that built a house across the street and brought their 2 dogs to run free in the neighborhood. We have shot them with a BB gun to keep them out of our yard because they NEVER stay home and have been sniffing around our chickens and rabbits. These dogs are a Lab mix and a Sheperd mix both were strays they picked up. FINALLY got them to stay home and away from our chickens/goats/rabbits and NOW they have brought home 2 HUGE Bull Mastiffs that were in our yard yesterday around the rabbit cages!

BB gun doesn't even phase those big honkin dogs...AT ALL!!!!!!! WHY can't people keep their dogs UP? I have 2 Pitt Bulls that are not allowed out of our yard. One is dog agressive and is NEVER out of our yard EVER under any circumstance, and she wears a shock collar for just in case of escape.....we have bent over backwards to keep ours under control and we're the only ones for a mile who has chickens and livestock. The other neighbors have 2 Labs that run the neighborhood that have red mange....I live amongst a bunch of morons....I think I may have to start using the shotgun instead of the BB gun. I know when I do I will have to kill the dogs. The neighbors have been spoken to about the issues with their dogs. We have a fence in the back, but I am NOT putting one around our whole property because of those idiots! I can't afford to, and shouldn't have to because of THEIR animals!

shotgun sounds like the answer if it's legal to dicharge where you live. I woudn't bother with bird shot. Those are larger dogs, I'd be using 00 buckshot.

It is legal, and we have no animal control in the area, but I HATE being put in the position to HAVE to shoot the stupid dogs! I should just shoot the neighbors with the BB gun every time they come out until they contain their dogs....it is THEIR fault and not the dogs. I can't stand stupid people!

Cindi, check your county regulations. Our rural area is actually under Animal Control laws, loose dogs are not allowed. It takes forever for them to respond, but when they do all the loose dogs are caught. They practically send in a SWAT team when they get around to it here.

why don't you go talk to them... tell them your dog is dog agressive and won't put up with another dog on "his" property and that you will not be responsible for what happens should their beasts trespass...

BB guns dont make enough noise.

Try Rat Shot, you wont kill the dogs, but the rat shot is loud like a shot gun, and stings like all heck.

ONE time with rat shot and my neighbors roaming misftis dont come NEAR my property anymore.

We seriously have NONEXISTANT anybody to catch them. There are leash laws in the city, nothing in the county. I have a city address(for tax purposes

) but location is technically county. I have called the Sherriff's Dept. before and they told me to shoot them....I have killed a pack of 8 that went feral after being dropped off several years ago and was chasing my oldest on her bicycle trying to bite her. Since then, I hae fought with neighbors about non strays. When my dog got out all heck broke loose and they shot at him, but their dogs running rampant is fine and dandy. I am SO sick of the neighbors! On either side is family...in-laws. The new neighbors are from out of state. Guess I'm gonna have to school them on how I handle their stupid dogs in my yard. The next door neighbors dogs don't come over any more because I let my dog out on them and they never set foot in the yard now. It's hard to do that though because she is so bent on getting at the dog, she gets uncontrollable. If she gets out again I may have to shoot her too. She didn't hurt the dog, she holds them down by the neck and growls and won't let them up...which would be great if I just knew the button to make her let go and go inside, but the Terrier bunch is stubborn as all get out! She has never killed, or seriously injured a dog, but she definately has that potential. Now....if they get over the fence....Ms. Kitty will have to teach them a lesson. Otherwise it looks like I have no choice but to shoot them.

SSS is the answer. Shoot, shovel and shutup. So, shoot the dogs, and I mean shoot to kill, then shovel a large hole and bury the predator then shutup about what happened. Works well.
