Hi...I am new to chicken raising and so far so good. I have five assorted breeds that are now 6 weeks old and in their "forever home...the coop" I got them at 3 days old. How wonderful. My concern is that at night they are reluctant to go into their henhouse. I've taken to tricking them by removing their food about an hour before dark, then putting it back and they follow me in. But it seems like I shouldn't have to do this forever. lso, I leave a small automatic night light on so its not dark when they go in. But that doesn't seem right, either. Any thoughts? Thanks,

Leaving a small light on until they get in and settled on their roosts is perfectly okay. After they have formed the habit of always going to the coop at night you could take the light away.
