No air space . . .hmmmm?

I just cracked a boiled egg to eat and there was no space at one end between egg and shell? Why do/did I think there is always that airspace from what I have read?
 
The fresher the egg, the smaller the air space.
The older the egg, the larger the air space.

I think your boiled egg must have been cooked while it was very fresh.
