I just got 4 chickens last Friday (so exciting!). We've been getting 3 eggs every day except yesterday the girls laid NONE. I'm curious if anyone has any explanation for this. The hens are slightly older and I was told they lay most days but not every day - that explains why we've been getting 3/day instead of 4. But I find it very odd that none of the hens laid yesterday. I'm looking forward to hearing your suggestions. :)

Thay just had an off day. Nothing to worry about, it happens.

Hi! [IMG] Are they in a coop/run so not hiding eggs in the bushes? I find that odd too that 0/4 laid. Could happen. Good stuff they didn't shut down when you first got them. Somewhat depending on breed and daylight hours, chickens will molt. It's getting that time of year, less than 14 daylight hrs they slow down. That's not an explanation as to why you got zippo eggs today. I'd keep an eye.

Thank you for the responses! I expected to have off days I was just surprised that they all had an off day on the same day. They're in a coop and enclosed run with no egg hiding places, although I did look everywhere just in case they weren't liking the nest box. We got 3 eggs again today so they're back on track. At least for now ;)

    How old are they?
If around 18 months old, they may be getting ready to stop laying for a molt...laying can be inconsistent beforehand.
