I have 10 chickens varying in breed and age, the oldest of the flock who is a backed neck would be lucky to be 1 year old, I also have a muscovy duck who is almost 6 months. Not a single egg has been laid. It's winter here but still very warm, I am thinking/hoping in spring they may begin to lay? They are feed a mix of laying pellets, corn, mash and sunflower, fruits and vegies. Is there something I should be doing? Are they not old enough?

Do they free range? They may be laying else where if you let them out. They need 14 hours of sun light during the day to help the laying process. I supplement the light during the winter to help them out and to keep them laying. I don't know about ducks but one year seems late for the chicken not to have started lying. If they have molted during the summer this may delay the start of things as well.
