    Hi y'all
I've been a BYC keeper for 4 years now and really haven't had many concerns until now. My 4 year old Road Island Red, Ruby-red-racer seems to have lost her engine. For the past week I have watched her energy levels decline. She almost seems dissoriented as last night I had to pick her up and put her in the coop for the night. I've noticed that her once big brilliant red comb as well as her face skin appears more purple than red and she has had the squirts for about a month. The guy at the feed store suggested I add some baking soda to her drinking water. I did but I don't know if that has helped and that was before she developed these other symptons. Does anyone have any Ideas? I hate to see her suffering.
Thanks in advance for any help anyone has out there for me.

I think you should post in the thread below - folks that patrol that thread have lots of experience with sick and injured birds. Hope you get some great advice and she gets better soon - good luck to you!

Welcome to BYC - so very sorry for the circumstances. The purple coloration of her comb and face sounds like cyanosis. It just may be that at 4 years old she is dealing with heart issues. Keep her warm, comfortable, provide electrolytes and monitor the situation. Good luck.

Hi and :welcome from Ohio. So glad to have you aboard. Some vitamins/electrolytes in the water may help give her a pick me up. It is possible that she may also be dealing with worms. As the others said, post in the emergencies section might help. Good luck. :thumbsup
