I have a small backyard flock of 4 chickens (shhhh, that's one over the limit here in Portland.) Last summer my GLW went broody and in early August, I finally gave in after multiple attempts to break her and slipped a couple of day-old chicks under her last August 15th or so. Just yesterday, I was complaining a bit about my freeloader EE, who I didn't think had ever laid. Yesterday evening, a little blue pullet egg was in the nest! Is 10+ months at first egg really old? In any case, I no longer have a freeloader in my little flock. Yay! [IMG]

That's quite a wait for the first egg, but at least she is laying now.
