A female blue heeler / husky was found roaming the River Preserve County Park
near New Paris, IN. There are no tags, but she is young and very
friendly. Blue merle with blue eyes--possibly a mix??

I cannot keep her, altho I'm tempted! LOL

If you think this is your dog, please email me with a description.

Oh she sounds pretty! I hope you find her owner. Any chance of posting a picture?

is it possible she was dumped because the merles are usually deaf and/ or blind.

Aww, I hope you find her owners! If you can't, and she's not deaf and a good watchdog, I know of a home that would be interested in her [IMG]

I thought double-merles have a high chance of being blind/deaf but a normal merle is fine, just shouldn't be mated to another merle.

She is definately NOT blind or deaf. She walks pretty good on a leash, but I don't think she was socialized or trained. She is scared, if anything. She made quick friends with our cat & dogs, and didn't seem interested in the chickens!

I have contacted another rescue, but Betsy, PM me with details on the people you know!

Quote:Purebred Blue (or Red) Heelers are not merles. If they were, each litter would have deaf/blind puppies, as you cannot get a solid coloured Heeler to breed to. The same applies to Bluetick Coonhounds; they would not be a common or healthy breed since there is only one variety. Not all blue/black dogs are merles.
