I just noticed one of my 8 wk old Buff Orp has no toenails on her middle toe on each foot.
How often does this happen? Will she have trouble 'scratchin in the dirt'?

Sounds quite strange.... I have not had this happen before but i would imagine it would be hard to scratch.... Maybe they will grow in later??? [IMG]

I have a whole batch of chicks that are missing toes. We had a predator that ate their little toes through the wire in their brooder. Anyway, they do fine when the free range. These little buggers are resilient. [IMG]

I have a hen who lost some of her toenails, she is still doing fine 6 years later. She scrats a bit gentler than the others but it has never seemed to bother her.
