One of my 5 redstars seems to have no toenail on her middle toe on both feet. She's 9 weeks old, and I remember looking at her toes as an easily handled chick and noticed it then, genetic? She busily scratches the ground when the ants go marching... anyone see this before?

It may be either genetic or the result of an injury. Bottom line is it will have no impact on her quality of life. In the past I have had birds that lost toes due to frost bite, and they live happy and full lives.

Thank-you, everything else on her looks within normal range,
i did pick her up and look to see if there was any damage or scarring, nope just a round not sharp toe.
