First time since I was a kid that I've been around chickens. Picked up 6 EEs today. Not sure of the exact hatch date but can't be more then a few days old. One of them which happens to be the wife's favorite has a thin brown "string" coming out of it's vent. I flipped it over and moved the fluff, it's firmly attached. I didn't pull hard didn't want to hurt the little one. But the others keep pecking at it. What do you guys think? I can post a pic if needed. It's brownish tansh about 2 inches long kinda hard and stiff almost like a course hair.

its probably an umbilical cord - don't pull that or the chick could get really hurt. it should just naturally fall off. if its still there later then post a picture for sure.

Sounds like a plan. He is the lethargic of the bunch. Kinda made me wonder.
