It seems like every day, I learn something new about my chickens… today it’s again the subject of poo… 💩

from what I’ve read quickly online I *think* it’s normal, but just wanted to check with y’all because let’s face it, I trust y’all more than I do google searches!

First of all it’s a lot larger than the normal poo I’ve seen. It’s also very thick and almost black. No odor. When I first saw it this morning, I honestly thought it was from a night predator in the day run… that is until a few hours later, one of my hens pooed not far from me. So I know who has this particular poo.

I did give them some fresh fruit (blueberries), veggies (corn) and garbanzo beans. Could the blueberries be the cause? They had blueberries & blackberries before, but I’ve never noticed this…

the quarter in the photo is meant to help judge size. Also in the first photo, the poo in question is on the left; the poo on the right is their normal poo. Pictures 2 & 3 are the same color, but looser and not as much.
