North Carolina back yard chickens

Hi everyone! It all started with 2 chickens that wandered into my yard. All I wanted to do was get them to hang around and eat my bugs. My neighbor decided I needed some babies and now I have 5 chickens + the 2 wild ones.

Cool story! Out of curiosity, what breed were the wild chickens or possible escapees? Best of luck, and enjoy the incredible experience of raising chickens!

Thanks for the reply. An old timer (lol) (he is older than me) told they were American game hens. The person who lived down from me had pit bulls and several roosters. Never saw the roosters but heard them. Guess he had atleast one hen. He moved out and i guess he missed these 2 little girls. They come to my yard several times a day for water, a handfull of cracked corn and daily dust bath.

Lucky you. I have heard game hens make excellent mothers.

LUCKY I live in the country part of chapel hill and no chickens come to my house
