NOT LAYING

    I HAVE 6 CHICKENS ALL HEN THAT ARE OLD ENOUGH TO LAY BUT I AM ONLY GETTING 2 EGGS A DAY.MY AMERICANA LAYED ONCE AND STOPPED.THE OTHER HENS ARE 2 WYANDOTTES AND 3 BARRED ROCKS.THE BARRED ROCKS SEEM TO BE THE ONLY ONES LAYING AND I DON'T THINK ALL 3.IS ANYONE ELSE HAVING THIS PROBLEM?SO YOU KNOW THEY ARE FED LAYER CRUMBLES BY NUTRINA.PLEASE HELP BECAUSE I DON'T WANT TO FEED CHICKENS THAT DON'T LAY.THEY ARE ABOUT A YEAR OLD.

    First off, welcome to BYC! In the winter hens may stop laying due to lack of sunlight. And they don't lay during molt. Do you have a heat lamp in the coop? A light/heat lamp will help get the girls back on track. If you have a heat lamp and they still aren't laying, wait until late spring to decide what you do with them. And yes please post some pics so we can help! [​IMG] Happy chickening!

    Are you positive that they are all hens? Is it possible that they are hiding their eggs somewhere?

    Do you have any critters around that may be stealing the eggs, like raccoons, squirrels, crows, skunks? Are they in good health, free from worms and mites or lice?
