    We're told she's 10 days old...?

This one is 10 days old too but has more feathers than the above.

Definitely not 10 days old. They would have more wing feathers. They look more like a few days old to me. The first one looks like an EE (or maybe an actual Araucana? Doubt it but I don't see a tail....) and the second one is a Barred Rock. And by the looks of the big white dot on the head, I'd say most likely cockerel, but it still may be best to wait and see.

Oh! I'll have to research what an EE looks like. Thank you.

So...a white spot could mean cockerel. Does the fact that it already has a lil comb at this age confirm that?

Quote:No, all Barred Rock chicks have the white dot, but males tend to have large ones than the females.

I see nothing to indicate EE; 2nd looks like a barred rock or cuckoo marans.

She has three toes and one short one in the back...not sure if that's considered a toe.

I'd call #1 a Buff Orpington. Go about 3/4 of the way down on this linked page to see a pic of BO chicks (lots of pics, it will be slow if you are on dialup):

Second looks like a BR as others have said. The white spot on the head of the male is usually described as "bigger" or "blurrier" than the one on a female.

Edited to add: and if those are 10 days old, I'm a pumpkin.
