Now that hens are laying - use up flock raiser feed or toss it?

I started getting eggs from twenty one week old hens this week. I have about 30 lbs of the flock raiser feed left. Can I use it up before switching to the layer feed? Should I mix the old with the new and use it up, or just toss it? Also, is there any risk in eating the eggs from the flock raiser feed?
    Thanks for the replies!

I just mix it with the new and use it up.

Don't toss it! As long as they have oyster shell (free choice), no reason not to use it up first. I don't typically mix feeds when I'm switching, and have never had a problem.

I wouldn't toss it either. Use it up. Mix it with the layer pellets if you want to. Just make sure they have oyster shell to eat if they want it.

I use Flock Raiser with my girls without a problem as long they got calcuim shells to use for their egg production.

I usually buy one Layena and one Flock Raiser combo and it works well!

Quote:That is funny. And yes just mix it with the layer. Wild chickens lay eggs with no help from us. [IMG]

Thanks everyone! I'll just mix it in with the laying feed.
