Not only have we gone through the years shortest days, but we have been over cast, deeply overcast for nearly two solid weeks. The sun came out yesterday! HURRAY!! I am just standing in it, and so are my chickens, basking.... ahhhh.

I don't have electricity to my house, so no additional light there, my eggs have been about 1 egg per 4 laying hens a day. Of my 3 pullets, one is getting a bright red comb, hoping that means soon.

I bought store eggs last week, with the crew home fore Christmas, and my son in law, said he did not come to the ranch to eat store boughten eggs. He did get the last two fresh ones, hey, he is a good son-in-law!

Anyway, I am hoping brighter sunshine, and longer days should be putting me back into production!

I'm hoping for some eggs soon too. Of my four, the two older girls stopped laying when the days got short and have not started up again yet - my two young ones just never started. Am expecting good things in January - bring on the sun!
