You are bidding on 18++ ASSORTED PUREBRED SHOW QUALITY COCHIN BANTAM fertile hatching eggs from 9 VARIETIES of our sweet colorful birds listed below!

I will start gathering today Dec 1st and ship all I gather till I tape the box shut and ship on Monday Dec 5th, so please pay as soon as auction is over so I can ship out on time.

I can't guarantee how many from each pen or what color variety you get in the assortment, but I promise you will get a nice variety of colors which you will really enjoy watching bloom into colors as they grow!

Cochin Bantams are the most sweetest docile birds you will ever be around. Great for kids of all ages and 4-H poultry projects as well! I have SEVERAL that are just total pets and follow me around the yard like a dog. They are my all time favorite bantam! They are great layers, but really prefer being broody or taking care of chicks. We use them and Sizzles to hatch all of our Midget White Turkey eggs. The Cochins love getting all the attention on our farm they get a lot of it from us and all who visit us!

At Lucky Pickens Farm we’ve been raising poultry for over 50 years and strive to raise high quality birds for show or just for pets. All birds on our farm are blood tested Pullorum/Typhoid clean. We see that our birds are kept happy and healthy by giving them the very best feed and TLC daily! We strive to breed to the Standard of Perfection on each breed we raise and all are purebred and kept in individual breeding pens away from predators. We feed a high quality, high protein all natural game bird breeder pellet with vitamins and minerals in the water daily to insure high fertility. We also feed a little scratch grains, Calf Manna and veggie treats which Gary grows in his garden. We LOVE spoiling our birds and it shows! You can see more photos of them on our website below. We are always happy to answer any questions about them and if you see some you like feel free to email me if you wish to place a special order of any variety you might like.

I have Fibromyalgia and can't work. My chickens are my therapy that keep me going, selling a few hatching eggs helps me buy feed for my little feathered loved ones. I gather several times a day to keep the eggs from getting to hot or to cold, to insure they are fresh and fertile for you. They are dated and turned three times a day and stored in a temperature controlled room to assure you the best possible hatch. All eggs are coded on which pen they come from and are no more than four/five days old when shipped. This insures the eggs are stronger to handle the shipping. Eggs are usually fairly clean, but may contain occasional soiling. I do not wash eggs but will brush of excess soiling if present. Washing can contaminate the eggs and may decrease hatch rate. Shipping for a doz is $15.00 which besides postage also covers bubble wrap, tape and gas. Eggs are wrapped individually in a long strip of bubble wrap then nestled and secured in LOTS of crumpled newspaper and box is clearly marked FRAGILE. I have found if I don't put Hatching Eggs on the box they get treated better also, but will gladly mark them that way if you so want. I've had very good success shipping this way. I pack and ship they way I would like my eggs shipped with lots of packing!

WE HAVE HAD AN EXCELLENT HATCH RATE HERE ON THE FARM THIS YEAR AND SET EGGS WEEKLY FROM EACH PEN WEEKLY TO KEEP A CHECK ON FERTILITY. WE HAVE HAD GREAT REPORTS FROM OUR SHIPPED EGGS AS WELL, HOWEVER WE CANNOT GUARANTEE YOUR HATCH RATE DUE TO CIRCUMSTANCES OUT OF OUR CONTROL. ROUGH POSTAL HANDLING, INCUBATOR MISHAPS AND EVEN DIRTY HANDS TURNING EGGS WILL MAKE PERFECTLY FERTILE EGGS NOT DEVELOP OR HATCH. PURCHASING SHIPPED HATCHING EGGS IS A RISK, SO PLEASE BE UNDERSTANDING AND KNOW THIS WHEN PURCHASING HATCHING EGGS!

THANK YOU for looking at our birds,
God Bless and Good Luck hatching from Lucky Pickens Farm!

Eggs will come from these Cochin Bantam pens...

    1. ** CALICO/MILLE pen includes a F4 Calico/Mille Fleur rooster "Winchester" with 2- F3 Calico/Mille Fleur Cochin Bantam hens, 1- F1 Mottled/Calico hen "Ms Bibs". My rooster and one of the Mille hens came from Lynne Wingshadows Hacienda in CA. She has been working on the Mille Fleur variety in Cochin Bantams for several years and has some awesome birds. I bought the other 2 hens who are hatched from her eggs. In the pen now also is a Calico/Mille rooster "Dakota" and 5 more hens I hatched and raise from all above. I have been hatching some really pretty chicks from these all and they by far are my favorites! (Egg code CMC)

    2. ** BUFF COLUMBIAN pen includes a Buff Columbian rooster "Sonny Boy" with 3 nice Buff Columbian hens, 2 Blue Columbian hens and 1 Blue Wheaten hen . All in this pen are some I have hatched and raised from a line I developed myself. All are very nice color and type and just started to lay several weeks ago. Just confirmed fertile eggs in the incubator from them and looking forward to seeing their first chicks any day now. (Egg code BFCC)

    3. ** BLACK MOTTLED pen includes a Black Mottled rooster "Wizard" I hatched and raised from a black mottled pair "Oreo" and "Ms Bibs". With Wizard are 2 of my Black show quality hens and 2 really nice Black Mottled hens, all have heavily feathered feet and nice pretty round buns. (Egg code MTC)

    4. ** BLUE MOTTLED pen includes a colorful Splash rooster "Lucky" with 3 nice Black Mottled hens for the start of blue mottled. Chicks will be blue but will carry the mottled gene. (Egg code BMTC)

    5. ** LEMON BLUE pen includes a Lemon Blue rooster "Prince" who is just gorgeous with a hint of metallic lemon gold in his hackles. Which is just beautiful in contrast to his dark blue base coloring with lighter splash coloring in his wings and tail. With him is a Lemon Splash hen "Goldilocks" with her golden coloring in her hackles against the lighter splash coloring it is easy to see how she gets her name! Also in the pen is Lemon Blue pullet "PJ" that I hatched and raised from them. All are great type with very full buns, with a very unique coloring which so far the chicks I have hatched from them look just like them. (Egg code LBC)

    6. ** BLACK/BLUE BARRED pen includes a beautiful Barred Cochin Bantam rooster "Bubba" with "Barbie" a Barred hen for Black Barred and "Speckles" a beautiful Splash hen to produce Blue Barred. I have already hatched several from her and just love them. (Egg code BARC)

    7. ** SILVER LACED pen includes "Bruce Almighty" and my sweetheart "Lacie". They are two of my favorite birds and are throwing some really nice clean laced chicks. With them now are 2 pullets I have raised from them and they are all laying really well now. (Egg code SLC)

    8. ** BLACK SPLIT TO LAVENDER pen. I bred and raised these from my show blacks bred from a Lavender rooster I hatched last summer from shipped eggs from Bill Clegg in GA. Pen includes "Cupid" the cockerel and 3 hens, "Valentine, Candy and Sweetheart" They all got their names from being hatched on Valentine's Day LOL! All are just as sweet as can be and LOVE and demand all the attention! The girls are all laying just about every day which is just wonderful since their mama's don't lay very well at all! All are really nice type that hopefully will produce better type and feather quality lavenders. I have been hatching both black and lavender chicks now and they are maturing out very nice so far. (Egg code B/LC)

    9. ** RED pen includes a nice dark mahogany Red rooster "Rusty". Have had several who wanted just Red Cochin Bantams again so back breeding with him again. In with him are 2 hens "Lucy and Ethel". (Egg code RC)

    Dear luckypickens,

I just wanted to touch base and thank you for your great service. I was shocked at how wee-tiny they were. So cute!! I am happy to report that all 14 eggs arrived safe and sound and that upon candling them today, 11 are developing and show visible blood vessels. Only three are not. At this point, you have done everything within your power to give me a great opportunity to hatch these wonderful birds. I will be leaving positive feedback today. I will keep you posted as we approach hatch just so you know how we did. I think getting 11 viable eggs from the 12 I bought is a super deal. Thank you again.

    All the best,
    Amy

Quote:I finished your order this morning and you are going to love them all! If I remember right you didn't want any Calico Milles did you? Well if you do I saved some the last few days for me to set and will give you some of those. I have you 2 Mottled Japs and hope to get another one today. Going out later to take new pictures of them to show you also. They sure are pretty things and just hatched 2 yesterday. This morning I had 2 surprise chicks, a Buff Silkie and a RI Bantam, both hatched under my Partridge Cochin Frizzle I have in the Sizzle pen. She also has Seramas and Mottled Japs under her also so can't wait. I have several people wanting the Seramas and Mottled Jap chicks. I hatched a solid white Serama chick over the weekend and a few weeks ago had a black mottled one hatch out. My trio are all buffish color and so neat to see different colors come from them. I have to get photos of them to post also. The Seramas and Mottled Japs are all new to me, first time I have tried raising either. Really love the Seramas they are pretty quiet birds, but my Japs are kinda flighty but could be cause they weren't handled very much. I'll see how the chicks turn out that I am raising for me to show later this spring, but so far they are turning out quiet.

I need a few more of these, Roz. Not quite yet, but hopefully soon. I want to hatch again before the end of January. We are finally moving now, so hopefully I will be set up in time.

Here are my chicks from your eggs (minus the 2 Silkie crosses).

I have one black mottled frizzle pullet, one calico frizzle pullet, one black smooth mottled pullet and one smooth Mille on the fence (meaning I want it to be a girl and I bet it's a boy). It doesn't have a comb/redness in the comb, but has developed color in the wattles in the last couple of days. Otherwise, I have a black, buff columbian, a black mottled and two Mille cockerels. I need more girls - and no more frizzles! Makenzie is happy with them, though. [IMG]

    Oh My Roslyn,

I can't wait to see them. At this point, toss in which ever eggs you want into the box. I will gladly take and try to hatch as many as I can now. Different types, Who cares. After seeing your photos again, I am in love with all of the colors. I am drooling and having fantasies about my flock next spring. I had one chick hatch out yesterday, who is lonely, until the rest of the brood catches up...For some strange reason, he/she was a couple of days ahead of the rest. The other shipped eggs didn't make it. Only three made it until two weeks. 1 died from infection, I think. 2 others malpositioned during pip, I think. My own eggs, 6 left, are doing well. I have homemade and LG fired up. I have an order of silkie eggs coming from Bargain this Friday. Assorted colors. I am in love with silkies. Even if I get a 30% hatch, I will be more than happy. My own flock is beautiful, but I need to reorganize and focus again on what I am working towards. I need to part company with some....not many. I hate to get rid of my beautiful EE/BB roo....he is to die for handome. Maybe cross him with some of these banties.....we shall see..!!!!!

I can't wait to get you package and see what you sent. I am excited. Seramas are gorgeous, but I have heard they are difficult to hatch/raise....in due time!

    Thanks!

Quote:Oh they are all so pretty, your calico frizzle pullet looks like one I have but it's a cockerel. Just my luck lol! My frizzle girls are back in the sizzle pen, I was just breeding for a few calico frizzles to add more color to my sizzle program. I have a really pretty red silkie rooster I want to put on them. I have a nice colorful frizzled sizzle cockerel that I am going to put on some straight sizzles. I also hatched a gorgeous blue mottled frizzle from my blue calico rooster Remington I put over my black mottled frizzled hen. So far it looks like it is going to be a pullet so crossing my fingers. I have a few others that look real promising from the calico frizzled breeding, but they are only around 4 weeks old and still blooming into color lol! I took a few photos of them all today and will try to post some later tomorrow. I'll have to tell the girls to lay pullet eggs for a while, since we all have enough cockerels lol! Wouldn't it be nice if it was that easy? [IMG] [IMG]

Quote:Well I was going to write and let you know what I am sending but now I will let it be a surprise [IMG] [IMG] I will tell you I got another Mottled Jap egg today and that makes 3 so far of them and you wanted 6 Buff Silkies so those won't be a surprise, but all the rest will be. They all are about over the flooding last week, thankfully this time we woke up in time to get all the bantams out of their pens and in cages up in the hay barn high above the rising waters. The big birds got up on their roosts as the water rose and after 18 hours sure was glad to get down to get a drink. They didn't have any trouble finding water when they got down lol!

I saw the assorted colors Bargain had and really would love to get some from her for my sizzle program. I won't have room in my incubators till after Christmas but I think I will get in touch with her and see if she will have some later. I just put my 2 partridge silkies in with my Splash silkie rooster today to breed for some blue partridge silkies. Thought they would be nice to add to my sizzle pens later on. I have had them in with Tabasco my Red Silkie rooster and have eggs in the incubator now from them. Can't wait for them to hatch. I've got a Splash Silkie cockerel coming up that I want to put on my frizzle cochin hens. He should be in the mood for girls after the first of the year so then I can leave Tabasco in with the 2 partridge girls from now on. Like you though I need to part with some... not many but it is so hard to choose which one lol! [IMG]
