Do my chicks have to have grit before they can have oatmeal? And does it need to be cooked, or do I give them just the flakes? I know for most any other treats they need the grit first, but wasn't sure about the oatmeal. Oh yeah, and they are a week old today, so I'm holding off for another week for any other treats.

I gave it both ways to mine when they were that age, just a little though.
I didn't give them grit though. If you want you can just put a small bit of sod in with them and they'll get any small pieces of grit they need from that.

I am lazy and toss it in dry, unless it's leftovers from breakfast or something. And I do give grit.
