I was given some oats(whole) and was wondering if it's OK to use as chicken feed. Thanks


Someone has probably asked this before.....
 
Yep, mine love it too. I sprinkle it on the ground and they have fun scratching around for it. Even the Cornish X's will get active for them

I soak mine in water first. I feed them whole oats. They love it.

I grew a test plot of oats last summer. After they were ripe, I swathed the whole thing and threw it loose into the chicken area. They pecked all the seeds out and it kept them entertained for weeks 'hunting' in the pile.
 
I bought steamed crimped oats from the feed store, figuring if the girls didn't eat them, the horses would love the treat. The horses haven't gotten any of them;)
