At around 11:30 last night a big storm blew through that knocked our power out. Loss of electricity is nothing new when you live this far out in the boondocks.
Since DH was due home shortly after midnight, I went ahead and started his supper. We have a gas stove, due largely in part to the power outages thing. I managed to get supper cooked, using a combination of a huge ol' maglite and an oil lamp.
DH got home, we ate. Immediately after eating I insisted upon taking an oil lamp to the kitchen so I could do the dishes. DH tried to talk me out of doing them, saying they could wait till the morning and light. He's still teasing me about my OCCD (obsessive compulsive cleaning disorder) this morning. I know the dishes had to be done for two reasons. First off, I hate the thought of waking up to find a sink full of dirty dishes. Secondly, my Mom would find a way to come back and haunt me if I left so much as a dirty spoon in the sink!
So, what would you have done? Vote now!

By the way, we don't have a dishwasher, nor do I particularly want one.

OCCD. Definitely.

I always washed dishes in the morning while I had my coffee. It was my "get going before the kids get up" routine. If I washed them at night I got cranky. NOW that I have a dishwasher we try to load as we go, but I still tend to do dishes in the mornings over any other time. I say you're not OCD, we just all have our ways

I'm from the old school because I spent every weekend with either set of my grandparents. The grandparents I spent the most time with taught me most of the things I now love. Gardening, fishing,, hunting, flowers, etc. Anyway, my grandma NEVER left a dish in the sink EVER. She washed them as she cooked and put them away so as to not have a pile of them after supper. I always try to do the same thing too. So no, you aren't OCCD, you were just getting it done so you didn't have to do it later.

I would have done them last night. #1 rule in house. All food gets put up, all trash disposed of so no odor escapes, and no dirty dishes in sink for the ants to find!
