tonight when I went to check on my hens, I found 3 of the 4 in their coop. I looked outside and the 4th hen was lying in the corner of their fenced area across deom the door. She wasnt making any noises and when i walked towrds her she did not move. I picked her up and carried he into thw coop. She didnt seem hurt. She started to ruffle her feathers ns climb on one the perches. I guess I'm asking if anyone has experienced anything like this with their flocks. It was about 9 in the evening and rainy and foggy. I'm wondering if something scared her???

It sounds like she is not well. I'd take her in doors to warm her up, inspect her, and monitor her closely.

Thanks, she seems fine today. Looked her over no marks she's walking and sitting on perches, and she's eating. Going to keep an eye on her. Thanks for responding

Probably cold or just uncomfortable.Mines are like this often.
She could have gotten into something upsetting her body/stomach.
If not she could always be sick or stressed.

Chickens can't hardly see at all after dark. If something/someone prevented her from going to roost with the other chickens, she could have gone night blind by then and and just stayed where she was. This has happened with my chickens on a night where the run door blew shut. When I came out after 9 PM to close up, all the chickens were plastered to the outside of the run. I opened the door, but no one moved till i went around and shone a light from the inside of the coop through the pop door. Then they could see where to go. Once they were all inside the coop, I had to shine the light directly on the roosts for them to hop up. Not really anything to worry about unless one of the chickens is bullying her and not letting her in the coop.
