Ended Official 2020 BYC Halloween Hatch-Along

Anyone candling today for 7 days on chicken eggs or 14 days on duck eggs? Hoping for lots of viable chicks for everyone!

I did my 10 day air cell check and everyone is alive and wiggly in there! I think I may need to decrease the humidity just a smidge, the air cell didn't get larger from day 7, though it did get much more distinct. I'll include pics if anyone has any input. The large numbers are the egg numbers, not the air cell days, just FYI.

Thank you! I am so nervous about them, my last hatch was my one and only and we ended up with one chick and it was super stressful. This time I am trying to do a much better job, so all the feedback is sooo helpful!

You should put a few more in there, just for good measure. You wouldn't want to have only one hatch and it would be lonely. Better to set, 5, or 6, or 25. Lol

Omg. I did absolutely have a crack. Two.

First this one that was developing. It was virtually crushed on the side so I didn’t try and fix it.

I’m not a huge fan of the Brinsea trays for quail. Clearly they take a little getting used to. I’m terrified to touch them now.

SO... set 54. Cracked 3, total. Down to 51. Can definitely see development I’ll candle in a few days and see how many. I need to find the snap on candle adjuster thingy for these tiny eggs.

what size brinsea are you running?? i cracked several on my first run but max loaded extra large trays with jumbos this time I only set 30 in the regular trays and i like the fit much better!!

I’m using the ovation 56. I have the regular trays and the goose trays and then these dividers that go in the goose trays to give you two rows for quail.

teeny tiny button quail are too freaking cute I can’t imagine them in person I have to hatch some sometime. Do you have to keep those in pairs?
