My Sussex hen, Bonnie, laid her first egg today! Can you believe it? The lady I bought her from said she hatched in June, so that makes her around 6 months-ish. It's so small!

    I can hardly believe it!!!

Here's my question: how do I know if it's fertilized? I have a white Silkie roo, and it sounded like he got to her a couple days ago.

What do I do with the first egg?? [IMG]

A friend told me that we shouldn't eat the first few... Is that true? and Why?

    Thanks a bunch!!
