Oh No!

Totally new to hatching....

Only ONE of my BCM eggs hatched (either Day 22 or Day 20 depending on which set) - but that's a lament for another thread...

The chick has an "outie" belly button and he was stuck to the egg by his placenta.
I read that this sometimes happens and the "outie" will dry up.

BUT this guy has what looks like an umbilical hernia (maybe from pulling while he was stuck to the egg?)
It is like a bubble on his abdomen.

I cut the umbilicus and it didn't bleed - so he isn't pulling on it any more but is there anything I can do to help him out??

I wish I knew

If he was a hatchling tortoise, you would put a little antibiotic ointment, keep things really clean and keep in the incubator with increased humidity until healed. Not sure if chicks are the same or not.
