Hello Everyone, I have been reading these forums and visiting BYC for the past year. On April 22nd, I finally got 6 chicks. My 5 & 10 year old nephews went to TSC during Chick Days and decided it was about time I stopped reading about chickens and actually had some. They brought me 6 red sex link pullets. Not what I ultimately wanted but I love them just the same! After the 1st two weeks of having them (and being two weeks into an addiction) I went to my local feed store and saw two little chicks who were being picked on - literally - in their pens. The guys at the store let me have them for free so I ended up with a Buff Orpington and a Golden Laced Wyandotte. I am absolutely in love with all 8 of my girls! My initial and still current intention is to raise Buckeye chickens. I have researched the breed and would like to help in re-establishing this beautiful heritage breed. However, right now I need to worry about getting my new chicken coop up and ready for the girls. BYC is a wealth of information and I'm glad to finally be a tiny part of it!
