It's probably been 30 plus years since I've seen a baby chick born and I just had my first one born and is it normal for there to be a little bit of blood when he pushes himself out He's still connected to the egg by one strand of blood vessels from his rump area to the egg shell just want to know if that's all normal or if I need to do something for himI'm pretty sure if I remember right I just leave him alone and let him dry and he'll come off naturally Please let me know

He/she’s probably okay. I think you’re supposed to let that strand stay attached as long as you can (I think it might still be connected to the nutrient source ...?). And yes, a little bit of blood is normal - from what I can see in the photo, I don’t notice anything alarming. The Little will be weak and tired for a while, too. Should perk up once he/she is all fluffed up. Good luck! :wee
