ok if chick 1wk old ate ant?

hum.. feed for chickens... I only feed chicks (and mother hen) the Chick Starter, no treats, because I want them to have a good balanced start to life.
I just googled if ants are protein and it seems like they are a pretty good meal! :lol: .. maybe not the more potent nipping ones though they probably would attack and hurt chicks. There was one walking towards the coop so I squashed that one! If it hurts me I can't imagine what it would be like for a little chick (or standard chicken) getting nipped!

Black ant... The insect has between 39.79 to 44.64% protein and about 42.07 to 49.77% fat content depending on the body part. The insect is also rich in iron, zinc, magnesium, potassium and phosphorus.
