Is it a buckeye or a Rhode Island Red [IMG]

    Welcome to BYC!

Could you post a standing side picture in natural light? It appears to be a mix breed cockerel.

Greetings from Kansas and [IMG]! Great to have you aboard. You might try posting the pic in this link: https://www.backyardchickens.com/f/15/what-breed-or-gender-is-this I am not very good at breed ID but with that comb it looks like it perhaps has some Wyandotte features???[IMG]

I would also agree on cockerel.
And, if you want to say hey to some fellow poultry raising Tar Heels, locate the NC thread in this link and say howdy: https://www.backyardchickens.com/f/26/where-am-i-where-are-you
Best wishes and thanks for joining BYC!! [IMG]

I agree with Flock Master64...not a RIR. Hope the members over on the breed/gender forum can help you figure it out.

Could this be an American Buckeye?

He's got those black markings on his chest. I doubt it, but need a better picture.

G’Day from down under diggstown [IMG] Welcome!

As I am not so good at chicken breeds and you are already getting some good advice, I will just add that I hope you enjoy BYC. There are lots of friendly and very helpful folks here so not only is it overflowing with useful information it is also a great place to make friends and have some fun. Unlike non chicken loving friends, family and colleagues, BYC’ers never tire of stories or pictures that feature our feathered and non feathered friends [IMG]
