I know the general consensus is that a chick will hatch within 24 hours after it pips. I looked but could not find info on how long it takes from an internal pip to an external pip though. One egg under my broody girl has internally pipped as of this morning. I can hear it peeping away like crazy as she's sitting on it. I heard it this morning and checked a moment ago and still no external pip.
I hope this baby makes it. This is my 10 yo son's bird so the chicks that will be hatching out (hopefully) will be his as well. He'll be crushed if they don't make it.
