I have been a member here on Backyard Chickens before but decided to start again. I have 8 chickens-4 Barred Rocks and 4 Ameracaunas. So we typically get 5-8 (four tan, four bluish/green) eggs a day here in the very, very cold state of Maine. We have about 1.5 feet of snow in the backyard currently with another 8-12 forecast for Wednesday. The poor girls don't know what to do! Their coop is lit which provides a little heat and their 12 hours of light a day-so they seem to be happy. If we get a mild day (you know 30 degrees) I let them out but they don't wander too far
My hubby started out with" those are your chickens!" and now he likes them just as much as all the rest of us (3 kids and an australian cattle dog).
