OLD HEN BLOWTED AND LIMPING WITH SORES ON FEET

If you have the money you can take her to the vet to be euthanized. If not have you looked up the peaceful gas method?

You know she has liver or heart failure because.......?
Have you examined her feet for any injuries or bumblefoot?
No one likes having to euthanize an animal, but having them suffer is far worse.
If vet care is an option, they will euthanize for you if needed.
If it's not something that is available or cost effective for you, then it's a responsibility you have to come to grips with, a necessary part of keeping animals.
I can tell you that as much as I dislike doing it, the thinking about it and the anticipation is worse than the doing. I HATE doing it, but I am always relieved to know they are at peace, not in pain, not slowly suffering.

This is the way to euthanize using gas. No blood may make it easier. Cervical Dislocation may also be good. Death is hard, but we can get through it. Just think about her life now. Is it of good quality? No. So who do you want to suffer. You for having to put her down or her for having to live like she is. Then at the end of that, you have to suffer because she still died, but it was slow and painful. I know you can do the right thing. I know it is hard. Just love on her extra hard until the end. Then go give your other chickens love. Hold a little funeral if you like. That may offer closure. You can do it. :hugs

my oldest hen (11) has started limping and we know she has ether liver or heart failure. what should i do? (im unable to put her down due to my weak ass feelings and dislike of death)

unfortunately i am too poor for euthanasia and i cannot afford mentally on anyone i know (myself included) killing her even if it is for her own good
I'm sorry you face this.

You mention sores on her feet. Please provide some photos.

Is she able to move about eat/drink?
Is she indeed to the point that you need to kindly put her out of her misery?

I do understand that the thoughts of putting her down is very hard, but if she is in a lot of pain, is suffering, unable to eat/drink and you don't think she is going to recover, then letting her go is the right thing to do.
No one likes death, but it is also a part of living that we all must face and accept. I
Ask a friend, family member or neighbor if they can help you. Call your local humane society or animal rescue to see if they have any resources available to you at minimal cost.
