My hubby talks about a Burnt Sugar Cake his Mom used to make. I got a recipe off the net and the cake was ok but I tried to use his mom's caramel fudge recipe for frosting like she did and I didn't get it right. He also says she made great candied sweet potatos by carmalizing the sugar first then adding the sliced potatoes. I need some recipes and some advice from someone who has experience carmalizing white sugar. I can do that just fine but it is the adding a liquid to it afterwards and getting it into a form that is not a gobby mess where I mess up. I'm not really looking for internet recipes but old family favorites. Thanks in advance and Happy Thanksgiving!
