Older hen's fertility

    A friend gave me some "fertile" eggs for my broody to hatch. The eggs came from chickens that are older, ranging in age from 7-11 years old. Only 1 out of 7 eggs hatched and the rest were just liquid when I finally opened them up with no sign of development. So my question is this....does a hen's fertility drop with age even though they still lay eggs fairly consistently? The roo is only 2yrs old. Thanks:)

    I don't have direct experience with that, but I have read that fertility can drop with age.
