Hello, Thank You for reading, my oldest Barnie roo just started crowing this morning. I love it! I'm sure my family and very few family and friends near might not but we'll see. I have a question since I'm new to chickens and learning as I go. After he crows he sometimes makes a cough sound. I'm wondering if it's because he's using his voice for the first time? He doesn't do it often but I'm still curious, any help would be helpful. Thanks again!

Sometimes roosters new to crowing sound a bit throaty at first!

I'd also suggest its nothing to worry about - before too long he'll be giving it the full beans every hour from 2am if he's anything like mine used to be!
