Tuesday, one of my 6 week old roos injured his leg- he's the only bantam in with a bunch of standard hooligans, and got body slammed. I brought him into the brooder, and snagged a hen named Vicki for company. Cock-A-Leekie, aka Cal, is a spunky little guy, but this really was hard for him. This evening I went in to switch Cal and Vicki to a clean brooder box.
I moved them to the new box, and since I was still changing feed and water, just propped the wire cover on. When I came back with a clean waterer... NO Cal! He had vanished! I searched high and low- and believe me, a 53 year old woman crawling on the floor calling "here chicky chicken" is not a pleasant sight.
There's a lot of stuff in that little room, so I crawled and crawled. No sign of Cal, not even a poo.
I was pretty frustrated. Vicki wasn't giving up any secrets either.
Here's Vicki-
While I continued the search for Cal I noticed Vicki's tail looked weird-
I stopped to stare and-
The little stinker had been under Vicki all along!
What a little "chicken" he is!
Hiding under the big Sis!
Cal is 1/2 Golden Sebright, 1/2 Buff Cochin, both bantam. Vicki is 1/2 Partridge Cochin, 1/2 Buff Orp.
