I just watched the start of a movie called Blood diamonds on tv. Only the first 10 minutes or so.
I'm not quite sure what it is about exactly but I think it's along the lines of somewhere in Africa they are mining for diamonds and they are getting the workers as slaves.
So it's mainly about this one guy. The start was of a big army going into town with machine guns killing all the people in the village, men, women, children and babies. torturing them. And this guy was trying to save his family he had the baby. He got caught, the baby got killed, he got taken. And they were only taking the men that they decided they would like to have as slaves working at this mine.
I'm shaking, I feel really sick. I feel really angry. I feel really sad.
    And the worst part.....
    It's a true story.

remember Diamonds come from more places then just Africa. Canada mines diamonds too. If memory serves me correct the diamonds that are/were mined in regions where the sale supports illegal activities are banned for import to the USA and Canada

I know its a Wikki page but this explains it best

    That's a good movie.

I wear an antique diamond reset..... Looks good as new [IMG]

You can specify what country of origin you want your diamond to be from, but don;t think diamonds are the only resource that causes this type of issue in impoverished nations....

The next one is rare earth metals....

Another great movie is Hotel Rwanda!

Never watched Blood Diamonds but heard enough to know what you were talking about. Hotel Rowanda was awesome, however, left me sick. How can humanity be so inhumane. It happens everywhere, but very bothersome. Maria Full of Grace is another one that left me similar feelings. Very good. But I can only watch those kind of movies rarely, I know there are people living very gritty, very dangerous lives out there, but it is truly heart wrenching.
