I finally have a broody! For sure this time! One of my pure ameraucana's (only laying for a little over a month) was on the nest all day. And she's still on the nest tonight when I closed everyone up. [IMG]

    Don't get wet. Broodiness happens.

I feel the same way when I DON'T have a broody hen in the bunch. Nothing makes a silkie owner's heart drop more than walking out and finding 3/4 of the hens all trying to be broody in the same nesting box together. Well...there go the eggs for about a month.... [IMG]

Quote:I know, that's why I haven't said anything until I was sure! She's still on the nest this morning.

Now I gotta decide whether to order the hatching eggs I want or let her hatch some of mine.

LOL... we have one hen that is in a constant state of semi-broodiness... very annoying.

Quote:I've had a few of them that just like to "pretend" to be broody. They puff up and everything, but then lay their egg and off they go.

This girl is not budging off the nest. I'm going to make a separate area for her today and move her (nest and all). But now I have to figure out how to get more shavings under her without disturbing her. The nest boxes were a little low on shavings, and I just haven't got to it yet.
