OMG! I HATE BROODING SEASON!!!!!!!!!!!

My white, angel wing (got her that way) Muscovy, Vada, has been broody for 3 weeks now. She terrorizes the rest of the flock, is crabby and annoying and generally making everyone miserable. Ugh. I cannot wait for this to end. I feel bad. I took all her eggs, so she sits on an empty nest. Once she stole another duck's egg and was sitting on it, but then I went out and it was broken in the next. She had yolk on her breast. Don't know if it just broke, or she broke it. At any rate, there have been no eggs for her to sit on for pretty much all of the three weeks. But, yet, there she sits and sits. I just cannot wait for her to give this up. She is obnoxious to clean around.

It seems the scovies are the only ones that go broody this long. Last year is was another one, Vivica, that did this. But she was not as insanely mean as Vada. It's gotta end soon, right?????

Well, two more weeks would be a normal Muscovy incubation period, but some will continue setting far longer.

If nothing hatches under her, she may continue to sit until it does. Or winter arrives.
