On average about how much water does a chicken drink daily?

I used to keep a gallon bowl of water out for my birds but it emptied very fast. I recently put in a 3 gallon waterer. About how much does a average sized hen drink daily? Thx!

On average about a pint a day in moderate weather, and they can drink twice that if the weather is hot.

Not really sure. I built a wooden trough because I got tired of filing up five 3 gals waters everyday. In hot weather, sometimes I'd have to fill them twice per day, in cooler weather, sometimes they would last 2 days. I also bought a 5 foot kiddy pool for Fur Face and his birds since the creek has dried up. We've been in a D5 "extreme" drought for several months now.

I have 15 birds that are going thru about a half gallon a day right now,
rough estimate is gauged by daily fills to a certain line.
Closed container with nipples excludes any evaporation.
Most are molting so not laying, which decreases feed and water consumption, IME.
